Penn State track: Loxsom honored by Big Ten

Published: January 29, 2013

— On the heels of a sizzling time in the 600-meter run over the weekend, Penn State’s Casimir Loxsom was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week on Monday.

The senior turned in three laps in 1 minute, 15.79 seconds to break the records for Penn State, the Ashenfelter track and the American collegiate standard.

His time is the second fastest for an American at that distance and eighth-fastest all-time in the world standings. His time of 1:46.98 in the 800 earlier this month is the top time in the world so far this year.

Loxsom will make his final competitive turns as a Nittany Lion around the Ashelfelter track inside the Penn State Multisport Facility on Saturday for the Nittany Lions final indoor meet of the season with the Sykes and Sabock Challenge Cup.
