STATE COLLEGE — Jenna Altomare nailed five 3-pointers and scored 21 points as State College bounced back from a tough loss Friday to bury Mifflin County 61-38 on Saturday.
The Lady Little Lions, who fell 51-50 to Cumberland Valley on Friday, led 30-23 at the half and took control by outscoring Mifflin County 22-8 in the third period. Bridget King scored all eight of her points in the quarter as State College (13-7) turned up the defensive pressure.
We tried three different defenses in the first half, State College coach Bethany Irwin said. We settled on one (a switching man-to-man) that worked.
Kyla Irwin added 13 points and the Lady Little Lions got 18 points from its bench. Our bench did a great job, Benthany Irwin said. Everybody who came in contributed.
Olivia Halfpenny had 10 points to lead the Lady Huskies (9-10).
State College next hosts Williamsport on Monday.
