— Central made 8 of 12 free throws in the final quarter as the Lady Dragons pulled away from cold-shooting Bellefonte 35-26 on Wednesday.

The contest was tight throughout as the Lady Raiders trailed 22-20 entering the final quarter. Trailing late, Bellefonte was forced to foul and the Lady Dragons (8-10) converted.

Lady Raiders coach Roger Herto said the contest was lost well before the last period.

“We had a lot of opportunities to get the lead and get in front,” Herto said. “We just did not convert. We had some pretty point-blank opportunities and didn’t make them. We played a pretty good defensive ballgame. It was the same story. We’re not going to win games making just nine field goals.”

Freshman Jess Book led the Lady Raiders (1-17) with 12 points. Taylor McNight had 14 points and Brayley Lewis had 12 for Central.

Bellefonte plays host to Newport at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
