LINCOLN, Neb. The Penn State womens gymnastics team posted season-high scores on the vault and floor exercise, but it was not enough to beat No. 9 Nebraska 197.175-195.150 on Sunday afternoon.
Sharaya Musser also could not get the best of the Cornhuskers, finishing third out of three women in the all-around and the only Nittany Lion with a 38.825 total. Musser was third in the floor exercise and tied for third on the uneven bars
Madison Merriam tied for third in the vault, and Nebraska took the top five spots on the balance beam.
As far as the first three events went today, we were absolutely thrilled, said head coach Jeff Thompson. We had a blast for those first three events. We had our struggles on beam and we know we have to do a better job. We need to do a better job of preparing them for Michigan and they need to continue to work on their skills in practice.
The Nittany Lions visit Michigan on Saturday.
