Penn State track & field: Leap wins triple jump

Penn State’s Brian Leap won the triple jump to highlight Penn State’s day at the SPIRE Division I Invitational on Saturday. The event served as a preview of the host site for the Big Ten Championships later this month.

Leap cleared 49 feet, 5 inches to win the event.

Also, Will Barr broke his own school record in finishing third in the 35-pound weight throw with a top toss of 67 feet, 11 3/4 inches, Dynasty McGee was second in the 400-meter dash in 53.87, Brittney Howell was third in the long jump and Marlene Ricketts took third in the triple jump.

Also, at the University of Washington’s Husky Invitational, Robby Creese finished fourth in the mile, though turning in the fastest time from collegiate runners at the event and second-best in the NCAA this year, in a school-record 3:57.11.
