Penn State gymnastics: Mathew Felleman leads way in Vegas

Led by Matthew Felleman, Penn State finished tied with Michigan for the most top-10 event finishes than the rest of the field Saturday night at the Winter Cup at the Las Vegas Sports Center.

Felleman was ninth in the all-around with an 82.750 finals score and a 164.800 two-day total to lead three Nittany Lions in the all-around top 20. He was 11th in the vault and parallel bars, 18th in the still rings and 20th on the pommel horse.

Parker Raque was 15th in the all-around with a 162.050 total and 81.200 in the finals. He tied for eighth on the rings and high bar, was 12th on the vault and tied for 12th on the floor exercise.

Trevor Howard’s 81.400 final score gave him a 161.250 total to finish 19th. He was at his best in the floor exercise, claiming fifth, while he was seventh on the parallel bars, tied for eighth on the vault and 12th on the rings.

Craig Hernandez had Penn State’s best individual showing, grabbing third on the pommel horse with a 14.450. Trevor Dow took ninth on the pommel horse.

The No. 1 Nittany Lions will visit Temple on Saturday.
