Penn State swimming: Nittany Lions swim to wins

Chelsea Vanderweele won one event and was second in another, while Chase Schell and Larry Virgilio also earned wins at the Ohio State Invitational on Sunday.

Vanderweele turned in a personal-best 2 minutes, 0.77 seconds to win the 200-yard backstroke. She added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley.

Sierra Scoggin added third-place results in both events.

Schell won the 200 butterfly in 1:50.28, while Virgilio was first in the 50 freestyle in 20.77.

Peter Fittin was second in the 50 free, Emre Acar was second in teh 200 free and Nathan Reed was third in that event.

The Nittany Lion women will prepare for the Big Ten Championships on Feb. 21-23 while the men will compete Feb. 27-March 2.
