Penn State track: Relay team runs to record at Millrose Games

Published: February 17, 2013

— Penn State raced to a win and a bunch of records at the historic Millrose Games at the New York Armory on Saturday night.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Za’von Watkins, Brannon Kidder, Ricky West and Casimir Loxsom rounded the track in 7 minutes, 21.37 seconds to break the records for the track and the Millrose Games and tie the Nittany Lion program. The foursome beat the runners-up by over five seconds.

Their time broke the Millrose record of 7:23.08 set by Richmond in 1982 and the Armory record of 7:25.47 set by Columbia last year. They also matched the school record set in 1987.

The team did fall short of their goal for the weekend of breaking the national collegaite record of 7:17.45 set by Clemson in 1989.

The entire Nittany Lion team is back in action at the Big Ten Championships next weekend in Geneva, Ohio.
