From CDT staff reportsFebruary 19, 2013

The State College boys’ basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed, and the girls are seeded third, for the District 6 Class AAAA tournaments and will tip off play Saturday.

The Little Lions and Lady Little Lions will play back-to-back games as part of a quadrupleheader at Bald Eagle Area High School.

In the AAAA semifinals, the Hollidaysburg and Mifflin County girls will open the action at 1 p.m. at BEA’s new gym, followed by the State College boys against either Mifflin County or Hollidaysburg, the No. 4 and 5 seeds, respectively, who play a first-round game on Thursday at Tyrone. That game will tip at about 2:30 p.m., followed at 4 p.m. by the No. 3 State College girls and No. 2 Altoona. Central Mountain and Altoona boys close the long day at 5:30 p.m.

BEA’s girls and boys are the top seeds in Class AA, and while their opponents will not be determined until Tuesday night, the Eagles squads know they will play in Friday’s quarterfinals.

The Penns Valley boys open play in Class AA at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night against Ligonier Valley at Tyrone Middle School.
