Several Centre County area schools closed or experienced delays Tuesday morning, as a wintry mix of sleet, snow and frozen rain pelted the area beginning at dawn.

Roads remained icy throughout the morning commute, prompting the closure of Bald Eagle Area School District and Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District.

Other districts across Centre County delayed their openings for two hours due to weather conditions: Bellefonte, Penns Valley and State College districts announced delays.

Central PA Institute, CLC Charter School, Grace Lutheran Kindergarten and Preschool, South Hills School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Young Scholars of Central PA all were experiencing two-hour delays.

Park Forest Day Nursery was closed

AccuWeather warns of “an icy mix” Tuesday morning with 1-2 inches of snow expected. The National Weather Service in State College posted a Winter Weather Advisory until noon Tuesday.
