High school hockey: Horgas brothers have big night for State College

— The Horgas family had a prolific evening for the State College ice hockey team on Thursday night at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Brothers Stefan and Brendan Horgas combined for six goals, and were a part of a seventh score, in an 8-2 victory over Penn Trafford.

The win locked up the sectional title for the Little Lions (13-7) in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League. The team has one more game, at Pittsburgh Central Catholic next week, before it begins play in the PIHL playoffs.

Stefan Horgas, a senior center, led the offense with four goals and assisted on another score. Brendan Horgas, a freshman defenseman, netted a pair of goals and added two assists.

Jared Karas and Sey Yeaple put in the other State College goals and Dalton Bown also had a big night with four assists. Karas, Luc Michael and Robby Waite also had two assists each.

Jordan Eisenstat and Jacob Miller scored for Penn Trafford.

Zac Woytowich made 18 saves in the victory.
