Penn State swimming: Nittany Lions break more records

Penn State finished with two school records on Saturday and six for the meet on its weay to a third-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.

Paige Whitmire won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.74 seconds to set a Penn State record while Melissa Rodriguez was sixth in the 200 breaststroke finals after setting the program record in preliminaries in 2:10.70.

Whitmire and Alyson Ackman earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, and Carolyn Fittin, Merritt Krawczyk and Katelyn Miller picked up second-team honors.

Also, the team of Ackman, Fittin, Miller and Whitmire finished second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:16.15.

Minnesota took the team title with 831.5 points, followed by Indiana (671.5) and the Nittany Lions (498.5).
