Penn State baseball: Liberty sweeps Nittany Lions

Liberty swept Penn State in a doubleheader on Sunday 12-3 and 4-1, taking all three games of the weekend series.

J.J. White had a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Nittany Lions (1-5) in the opener, as eight different Flames had hits, racking up 13 as a team off six Penn State pitchers. Steven Hill gave up eight hits in taking the loss as the starter.

A seven-run seventh inning blew the game open.

A trio of Liberty pitchers limited the Nittany Lions to five hits in the nightcap, while the Flames pounded out 11 hits, five for extra bases. Patton Taylor took the loss.

James Coates singled and tripled for Penn State, and Elliott Searer also knocked a triple.

The Nittany Lions head to San Antonio, Texas next weekend to begin an eight-game trip through the Longhorn State.
