St. John's suspends Harrison for rest of season

Published: March 1, 2013

St. John's sophomore guard D'Angelo Harrison has been suspended for the remainder of the 2012-13 season, head coach Steve Lavin announced Friday.

Harrison will miss the Red Storm's remaining three regular-season games and any postseason appearances.

"I had a productive meeting with D'Angelo yesterday. He has a bright future in basketball and I'm optimistic his time away from our team will be of value," said Lavin.

Harrison is third in the Big East Conference in scoring with 17.8 points per game. He reached the 20-point plateau in 13 of St. John's 27 games this season, and recently became the 48th player in school history to reach 1,000 points.

The Red Storm (16-11, 8-7 Big East) play Saturday at Providence.
