SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A three-run seventh inning was all the Penn State baseball team needed in a 3-0 victory over Nebraska-Omaha to close the UTSA Collegiate Baseball Classic on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions finished with a 2-1 record at the tournament and head to Houston for two games starting Tuesday.
Aaron Novak scored on a wild pitch, Elliott Searer followed with an RBI double and Searer came home on a Taylor Skerppon single to account for the Nittany Lion runs.
Ryan Harper tossed seven strong innings and got help from three relievers for the first shutout of the season for the Nittany Lions (3-6). Harper gave up five hits and three walks with two strikeouts while lowering his ERA to 1.46.
Blake Estep, Geoff Boylston and Jack Anderson finished the game, with Anderson earning the save.
