Penn State softball: Chippewas rally past Lions 7-4

CLEARWATER, Fla. Central Michigan scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Penn State 7-4 Tuesday evening.

Penns Valley graduate Rachel Myers took the loss, pitching the final two innings. She entered with two runners on and no out in the sixth and retired three straight batters. A walk and two errors preceded a two-run double to CarolAnn Sexhour and a sacrifice fly in a four-run seventh for the Chippewas.

Lauren Yao was 2-for-3 for the Nittany Lions (3-9), who were held to five hits. Karlie Habitz homered and drove in three runs. Cassidy Bell was 0-for-2, walking twice and scoring a run, to see her 22-game hit streak end.

Penn State faces Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday.
