Penn State baseball: Cougars devour Lions

Penn State couldn’t hold onto an early 4-1 lead and fell 15-5 against Houston on Tuesday.

James Coates, Steve Snyder and Taylor Skerpon each had RBI singles in a four-run second inning that gave the Nittany Lions (3-8) a 4-1 lead.

The Cougars (10-3) rebounded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of three Penn State errors. The Nittany Lions committed six errors in the contest which led to seven unearned runs.

Snyder and Elliott Snyder led the Penn State offense with three hits each. Frankie Ratcliff drove in four runs for the Cougars. Houston pounded 14 hits off five Penn State pitchers.

The Nittany Lions start a three-game series Friday against Houston Baptist.
