Penn State softball: Nittany Lions slug way to win

Cassidy Bell blasted her eighth home run of the season and Macy Jones had three hits as Penn State used a seven-run fourth inning Loyola of Chigaco on Wednesday.

Trailing 2-1, Penn State used five hits, two walks and an error to score seven times in the fourth. Karlie Habitz’s two-run double highlighted the outburst. Jones and Lauren Anderson added RBI singles.

Bell’s homer was a solo shot in the seventh. Bell and Kasie Hatfield each had two hits.

Jordan Wheatley earned the win in relief of starter Jones. Former Penns Valley standout Rachel Myers pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn her first career save.
