Recap: High Point vs. Liberty

Tavares Speaks scored 17 points as the Liberty Flames held off a furious rally from the High Point Panthers to escape with a 61-60 win in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament at the HTC Center.

Davon Marshall added 16 points and John Caleb Sanders had 12 points and five assists for Liberty (13-20) which advances to face Gardner-Webb in the semifinals.

High Point (17-13), which won the North Division title in the regular season, got 17 points from Allan Chaney and 13 points from Dejuan McGaughy.

The Panthers trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half but stormed back to pull within a single point in the final seconds. However they were unable to get off a final shot attempt and were handed the loss.
