BLACKSBURG, Va. — The NCAA Zone A Diving Championships concluded at Virginia Tech on Saturday, as Penn State watched its two competitors finished their seasons inside the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
Megan Springsteen competed on the 1-meter board, while T.J. Schenkel finished up his stay on the 3-meter board.
Springsteen ended her stay at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships with a 42nd place finish on the 1-meter board with an overall score of 180.35.
The junior capped off her first appearance at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships after qualifying on the 1-meter board when she compiled a score of 268.42 vs. Villanova on Nov. 11, 2012 to win the event.
The junior also won the 1-meter event against Navy on Jan. 26, 2013 with a mark of 243.82 and later placed second on the board vs. Towson with a score of 251.37 on Feb. 2. Springsteen owned the teams top score on the 3-meter board at 264.00, while ranking second on the 1-meter board with a season-high tally of 268.42.
Schenkel finished up his season on the mens 3-meter board and capped his NCAA Zone A Diving Championships experience with a six-dive score of 199.45to finish 42nd in the prelims of the event.
