Published: March 18, 2013

Penn State has been invited to play in the Barclays Center Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. next season with two games at the new home of the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 29-30.

Joining the Nittany Lions are Georgia Tech, Mississippi and St. John’s in the second year of the event. Kentucky and Maryland played in the tournament this season. Match-ups, tip times and television information will be announced later, and tickets go on sale Friday.

“We are looking forward to competing in the 2013 Barclays Center Classic,” head coach Patrick Chambers said. “It is a great opportunity to take our team and fans to a terrific new venue and to challenge ourselves against a competitive tournament field.”

The Nittany Lions will be playing their first games in New York City since beating Notre Dame and Baylor in Madison Square Garden to win the 2009 NIT championship.
