High school tennis: Little Lions roll past Cedar Cliff

Published: March 21, 2013

— Led by No. 1 singles player Cooper Josephs, State College dropped just one set as the Little Lions rolled to a 5-0 victory against Cedar Cliff on Wednesday.

Joseph’s cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Seth Wilson. No. 2 Edward Badding netted a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while No. 3 Enrique delCastillo outlasted Cedar Cliff’s Ben Work 6-2, 2-6, 10-8.

The Little Lions’ doubles teams of Luke Plaowden-Sam Wherley (6-0, 6-2) and Shreyes Radnakrishna-Nikhil Ananth (6-2, 6-2) won in straight sets.

“It was a cold, raw, windy day but the guys took care of business,” State College coach Jane Borden said. “We already have some injuries to our top guys so it was nice to see some new players step into the varsity lineup and get the job done.”

State College (2-0) next hosts Chambersburg at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
