Rice extends Bailiff through 2016

Published: March 22, 2013

Rice head football coach David Bailiff has received a three-year contract extension through the 2016 season.

Bailiff has engineered the Owls to a pair of bowl games over his six seasons and has compiled a 30-44 record in that span. In 2008, the Owls went 10-3 and beat Western Michigan in the Texas Bowl. Last year, Rice went to the Armed Forces Bowl as a 6-6 team and then topped Air Force.

"We are building something special here, something that every Owl can point to with pride," Bailiff said. "I have said over and over that I have the greatest job in the world because I have the chance to coach some of the greatest young men in America, and I look forward to what these young men will accomplish in their time at Rice."
