UNIVERSITY PARK — No. 14 Penn State has been selected to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships at No. 2 Oklahoma on April 6.
The Nittany Lions, making their 39th regional appearance, and Sooners will be a part of a six-team field, along with No. 11 Stanford, No. 22 Washington, Iowa and Southern Utah for competition beginning at 4 p.m.
We are excited to be heading to Oklahoma, head coach Jeff Thompson said. It is a great field of teams going to be there. We have our work cut out for us; but, we like our chances. Were glad we get a chance to redeem our performance at Big Tens last weekend. We have a UIC individual with us, Catherine Dion, which means Rachelle and I get to rotate with our long-time friends (and another husband wife team) Peter and Mary Jansson.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Los Angeles from April 19-21.
In addition, the event winners at each regional site will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
