High school volleyball: State College drops season opener

From CDT staff reportsMarch 27, 2013

— The State College boys’ volleybal team was swept in its season opener Tuesday evening, falling 25-21, 25-20, 25-19 to Central Dauphin.

It was also the Little Lions’ debut in the Mid-Penn Conference for boys’ volleyball.

Eric DeShong and Ibrahim Almoaiqel each had seven kills, Noah Hanahan picked up 20 digs and Kyle Shafer posted 16 assists for State College.

“We were in all of them,” coach Kim-Li Kimel said. “Our unforced errors weren’t out of control, but we never put them on their heels. But it was a good measuring stick and now we know what our season will look like and we see what our potential looks like.”

The Little Lions will play its home opener Thursday night against Northeastern.
