High school softball: Lady Raiders open season with victory

From CDT staff reportsMarch 28, 2013

— Stevi Confer pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and striking out two batters to lift Bellefonte to a 7-2 softball win over Tyrone in the Lady Raiders’ season-opener on Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders got off to a fast start with three runs in the first, sparked by a two-run hit from Alicia Allen.

Despite the recent snowy and cold conditions, Lady Raiders coach Gregg Kohlhepp was pleased with his field’s conditions, citing the work of resident and groundskeeper Denny Frantz.

“It was great to get on the field and work together” said coach Gregg Kohlhepp. “Denny takes care of the field like it’s his own property.”

Bellefonte will host Hempfield on Tuesday.
