STATE COLLEGE — Ryan Karstetters two-run double helped State College break out in the third inning of a 6-3 baseball victory over Carlisle on Thursday afternoon.
That was really the big difference in the game, State College head coach Bill Tussey said of the sophomores hit down the third-base line.
The Thundering Herds pitching staff began the decisive third with a 1-0 lead, but hurt itself by walking in two runs before Karstetter struck. Kenny Craig added an RBI single in the frame.
Craig also started and pitched five innings to earn the victory. Karstetter pitched two in relief for the save. The Little Lions will host Clarion on Friday.
We got some timely hitting which is good, but we have to get a little more consistent offensively, Tussey said. The big inning was a very positive sign. Hopefully with the weather warming up itll get there.
