BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 4-3 victory Friday and keep Penn State winless in Big Ten play.
Macy Jones cracked a two-run home run as part of a three-run third inning that had the Nittany Lions (7-22, 0-6) in the lead until the sixth. Cassidy Bell, who later in the game belted a triple, walked and scored on the homer. Shannon Hutchinson had a bunt single and scored on a Reina Furuya sacrifice fly to start the scoring in the inning.
The Hoosiers tied the game with a run scoring on an error after a Brooke Boetjer double, then took the lead on Shannon Cawleys RBI fielders choice with the bases loaded.
Jones pitched one inning in relief and took the loss. Marissa Diescher gave up four hits, three runs, one earned, with five walks and one strikeout over five innings.
The teams meet again Saturday.
