UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State officially announced nine recruits and one transfer have been signed to join the Nittany Lions this fall.
The class is headed by Connor Maloney of Harrisburgs Bishop McDevitt, who is ranked No. 21 in the IMG Academy 150, third in Pennsylvania and 11th among American midfielders. Maloney broke school records with 110 career goals, which also was a Mid-Penn Conference record, and 68 assists for the Crusaders. He also was an NSCAA All-American last fall.
The class also includes Mercersburgs Bruno Marangoni, Mason Klerks (Corona, Calif.), Evan Finney (Hillsborough, Calif.), Shane Kronick (Westfield, N.J.), Tyler Toweson (New Windsor, N.Y.), Matt Barth (Baltimore, Md.), Mark Wadid (Mississauga, Ontario) and Michael Wagenknecht (Waterloo, Ontario). Michael Gonzalez (Berwyn), who transferred to Penn State in the winter, spent the last two seasons at Lehigh. The group consists of seven midfielders (Gonzalez, Marangoni, Maroney, Klerks, Kronick, Toweson, Wagenknect), two goalkeepers (Barth, Finney) and one forward (Wadid).
