High school baseball: Racquet pitches State College to win over Central Dauphin

From CDT staff reportsApril 9, 2013

— Nick Racquet pitched a two-hitter as State College dropped Central Dauphin 5-0 Monday in Mid-Penn League baseball action.

Racquet struck out 12, walked three and surrendered only a pair of singles in the complete-game effort.

“The results look overpowering,” Little Lions coach Bill Tussey said. “But he did a good job pounding the strike zone. Only three walks — that’s a pretty good outing. He kept the ball down, and when he didn’t get the strikeout, the defense did a good job behind him.”

State College (4-2) scratched out a run in the first inning without a hit, with a Nick Smith sacrifice fly scoring Caleb Walls. The team had only two more hits in a four-run third, with a leadoff double for Ken Craig and an RBI single for Tanner Witter starting the scoring before errors and double steals finished the scoring.

Witter and Ryan Karstetter each had a pair of hits.
