WINGATE — Punxsutawney benefitted from some sloppy defensive play by Bald Eagle Area and nabbed a 3-1 win over the Lady Eagles on Monday.
The Chucks (2-1) plated a run in each of the second, third and fifth innings while the Lady Eagles (1-2) turned in four errors to help their opponents’ cause. Despite their defensive lapses, the Lady Eagles combined for six hits and BEA’s Makennah Dyke and Megan Dudish notched 11 combined strikeouts.
“We definitely beat ourselves tonight,” BEA coach Kayleen Sidisky said. “We hit the ball well enough. We just have to string more together and play better defense next game.”
