High school softball: Central ace stops Bellefonte

From CDT staff reportsApril 10, 2013

— Central’s Kylie Gunnett tossed a two-hitter and the Lady Dragons jumped out to an early lead to secure a 4-1 victory over Bellefonte on Tuesday.

Central scored all four of its runs in the first inning and Bellefonte could not recover. Gunnett walked three and struck out five, surrendering an RBI single to Vanessa Cooper in the bottom of the first inning.

Bellefonte’s Stevi Confer (3-1) tossed a five-hitter, walking on and striking out two. Jess McClenahan had Bellefonte’s other hit.

“We had three errors in the first inning, it was tough to come back from that,” said Lady Red Raiders coach Greg Kohlhepp. “The girls did a nice job on defense but we didn’t put on enough pressure to get a win out of this one.”
