ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Penn State dropped to 0-8 in Big Ten play as the Nittany Lions fell 3-2 against Michigan on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions (7-23) wasted a solid effort from starter Steven Hill (1-6). The right-hander allowed eight hits and three runs over eight innings. Hill walked four and struck out four.
Michigan (19-14, 6-2) took a 2-0 lead after two innings and led 3-1 after three frames. Wolverine relievers James Bourque, Kyle Clark and Jacob Cronenworth did not allow a hit over the final 3 2/3 innings.
James Coates and Taylor Skerpon had RBIs for Penn State, which had just five hits. Travis Maezes had three of Michigan’s eight hits.
The series concludes Sunday.
