BROOKVILLE — Mitchell Smith had a pair of second-place finishes and was part of the winning 4x800-meter relay team to pace Bellefonte's boys in the Brookville Invitational meet Saturday.
Smith, Garrett Pensal, Brett Finley and Sean Gipson ran 8:40.94 to capture the relay crown with the fifth best time in school history. Smith was runner-up in the 1,600 (4.41.72) and 3,200 (10:18.53).
Gipson placed fourth in the long jump (19-2). Mitchell Grass was fifth in the shot put (40-9), while Matt Querns was seventh in the discus (114-7).
Cassandra Book's fourth-place finish in the shot put (34-0) paced the girls' squad.
Anya Hoaglund set a school freshman mark and placed sixth in the 3,200 (12:57.25) and she was eighth in in the 1,600 (5:56.83). Jessica Book was seventh in the 3,200 (13:06.55), the second best freshman time in school history.
Kaitlyn Womer took eighth in the long jump (34-0).
