High school baseball: State College blanked by Red Land

From CDT staff reportsApril 16, 2013

— Matt Shope went the distance for Red Land and allowed just two State College hits en route to a 2-0 Patriots victory on Monday.

Nick Racquet (2-2) kept the Little Lions (4-4) close from the mound, but the team’s offense never materialized.

Racquet pitched six innings, gave up three hits and two runs, but his four walks were costly.

Dan Fry (2 for 4) supplied the team’s only hits.

“We had a pitchers duel,” said head coach Bill Tussey. “And quite frankly outside of Danny Fry we just didn’t get the job done offensively.”

State College returns to the field Wednesday at Mifflin County.

“Nick did a serviceable job,” said head coach Bill Tussey. “Anytime you only give up a few runs you hope you can scratch out a few.”
