High school boys’ volleyball: State College falls at Chambersburg

From CDT staff reportsApril 17, 2013

— State College took the first set against Chambersburg on Tuesday, but an early injury foiled the Little Lions en route to a 3-1 (25-23, 13-25, 11-25, 12-25) loss.

When middle blocker Kevin Paroda went down, an already depleted State College roster was forced to adapt.

“First game was great,” said coach Kim-Li Kimel. “We came out and put up six unanswered … but (after the injury) we had guys playing out of position and never found a rhythm.”

Ibrahim Almoaiqel led State College (4-3) with nine kills. John Dorsey added eight. Noah Hanahan finished with 36 digs and Eric DeShong had five aces for State College who faces Bishop Guilfoyle on Thursday.

“At this point we are so riddled with injuries we just need to come in tomorrow and work through another set of lineups and do the best we can do,” said Kimel.
