High school softball: Bellefonte clipped by Hollidaysburg

From CDT staff reportsApril 18, 2013

— Bellefonte had chances to overtake Hollidaysburg but just couldn’t capitalize en route to a 3-2 loss on Wednesday.

Vanessa Cooper went 2-for-4 and Olivia Ripka went 2-for-3 to lead Bellefonte (3-4). Each drove in one run as well.

Bellefonte trailed 3-2 in the fifth when it reeled off four straight hits with two outs. However, the threat ended when Erica DeVinney’s shot to right field was tracked down by the Golden Tigers’ Kaylee Beaudoin.

“We did a nice job coming back at the end,” said Bellefonte coach Gregg Kohlhepp, whose team visits Tyrone on Thursday. “So we’ll try to take that momentum and that attitude into (Thursday).”
