High school baseball: State College beats Cedar Cliff

From CDT staff reportsApril 23, 2013

— For the second time in less than a week, the pitching combination of Ken Craig and Dan Fry earned State College a much-needed victory.

The Little Lions’ 7-3 victory over Cedar Cliff on Monday followed a 17-8 comeback win over Mifflin County last Wednesday.

Craig started in both games with Fry pitching well in relief until the offense responded.

“Certainly our pitchers did a good job today,” State College coach Bill Tussey said. “Both of them did a good job of keeping the other team down.”

The Colts managed just two hits in the game. Craig pitched two innings, gave up two runs and both Colts’ hits. Fry went four in relief, walked four and struck out six.

With the score tied at two in the fourth inning, a Craig RBI single began a three-run frame.

In the fifth, Caleb Walls hit a two-run double to give State College (7-4) the cushion it needed for its third straight win.
