High school track & field: State College girls sweep tri-meet in track

The State College girls’ track and field team won all but one event on the track and easily raced past Altoona and Mifflin County in a double-dual meet on Tuesday.

The Lady Little Lions handled the Mountain Lions 109-41 and the Lady Huskies 126-24.

Lauren Bonness was the only double winner for State College, posting winning times in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Also collecting wins were Megan Vonada (100 hurdles), Chandley Book (400), Emma Cousins (800), Hannah Catalano (1,600), Sarah Almarazooqi (3,200), Kimberly Lightner (javelin) and Olivia Watkins (high jump).

State College, which will be sending a handful of athletes to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia later this week, also swept all three relay races.
