Registration for 2013 Summer Day Camps

Wee KIDventure camp (ages 3-5); KIDVenture Camp (entering grades 1-6)

Also: Youth martial arts and culturecCamp; Sound of Music Camp; GROSS outdoors camp: Wonderful wetlands camp; Youth fly-fishing for trout camp; Outdoor explorer camp; Geo-Caching adventure camp; Canoe camps for youth: Kayak camps for youth; and “Nature Adventure” art camps.

May 1

•  Coed field hockey

For grades 3-6, 5:30-6:30, Penn State Field Hockey Complex

May 2 and 9

•  Girls’ rhythmic gymnastics

For ages 6-9, 6:30-7:30 p.m., all purpose room, Park Forest Elementary School

May 4

•  Girl Scout discovery fair

Brownie Girl Scouts, 10 a.m.-noon; Junior Girl Scouts, 1-3 p.m., Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, 235-7819 to register.

May 4, 11, 18 and 25

•  Camp Bill, after school drama camp for ages 8-13, 6-8 p.m.; ages 14-18, 3:30-5:30 p.m. auditorium, Fairmount Avenue Elementary School

May 5

•  Track meet

Children ages 9-14 will compete in various track and field events at a local track meet at 6 p.m. at the State College Area High School South Track in Hershey’s North American Track & Field Youth Program. Registration from 5:30-5:50 p.m. www.hersheystrackandfield.com

May 11

•  Pitch, Hit and Run Contest

2 p.m. Spring Creek Park; for ages 7-14, contact Jeff Hall at 231-3071

•  Becoming an Outdoor Family

1-4 p.m. at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. Naturalist Jim Flanagan from the kids’ Outdoor Explorer Camp shows how to prepare for a hike, be smart on the trail and the basic skills to stay safe and have fun. Register at least 1 week in advance. Fee: $15 per resident family/$22.50 per non-resident family.

May 12

•  Mother’s Day Concert

3 p.m., State College Area High School South Building, 650 Westerly Parkway, State College.

May 18

•  CRPR Pool pass photo day

11 a.m.-2 p.m., pool offices at Welch and Park Forest pools

•  Tennis block party

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Spring Creek Park Tennis Courts. Centre Region Parks & Recreation and the Centre Region Community Tennis Association invite everyone for an afternoon of tennis. There will be racquet demos, free mini lessons and USTA Quickstart Youth Tennis demos.

May 25

•  Pools open

Park Forest and Welch community pools opening day. Pre-season hours will be in effect until school is out for the summer.

May 25-27

•  CRPR dollar days at the pools

$1 admission all day at both pools; season passholders are admitted free.
