Penn State softball: Iowa shuts down Nittany Lions

— Iowa pitcher Chelsea Lyon shut down the Penn State softball team’s offense Sunday afternoon, holding the Nittany Lions to three hits in a 5-0 Hawkeye victory.

Lyon (9-9) walked two, struck out two and scattered three singles by the Nittany Lions (14-31, 4-15 Big Ten) to prevent a three-game series sweep.

Iowa’s Bradi Wall was 3-for-3 and she and Kayla Massey each had a double and home run in the victory.

Macy Jones (12-15) gave up six hits, four runs all earned with no walks or strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings in the loss.

Penn State closes the regular season next weekend against Nebraska.
