High school softball: Struble, Lyons lead Penns Valley past Huntingdon

— Ashley Struble and Tangie Lyons helped Penns Valley jump all over Huntingdon with a pair of first-inning home runs that propelled the Lady Rams to a 9-1 victory Monday.

Struble (4-for-4, four runs, two RBIs) smacked the first pitch she saw over the fence in left-center field. Two batters later, Lyons (3-for-3, three runs, two RBIs) crushed her first offering over the fence in nearly the same spot.

“Obviously Struble had a heck of a day,” said Penns Valley head coach Don Lucas, whose team had 16 hits. “Lyons is really starting to produce also.”

Courtney Ironside, Kylee Wasson and Nicole Harbaugh had two hits each for the Lady Rams, who host Bald Eagle Area on Thursday

Maggie Lynch (6-6) went the distance, scattering seven hits, walking two and striking out two.
