— Penns Valley’s Max Bair tossed a two-hitter to outduel Bald Eagle Area’s Tyler Schall as the Rams knocked off the Eagles 4-2 in Mountain League baseball action on Friday.

Bair allowed just a pair of unearned runs and got out of a jam in the seventh to earn the victory. He walked five and struck out six.

“He had excellent command,” BEA coach Jim Gardner said of Bair. “He hit his locations and mixed the curveball in. He had us off-balance the whole game.”

Penns Valley (7-7) broke open a scorelesss game on Cameron Tobias’ two-run double in the fourth. Tobias also had an RBI single in the sixth to make the score 3-0 and Colton Treaaster added an RBI single in the seventh.

Trailing 4-0, the Eagles (10-4) loaded the bases in the seven on a walk and two hit batters. A dropped infield fly and an error plated two runs and left the tying runs on base with one out. Bair got out of the jam by inducing a a pop-up and a soft infield liner to end the game.

Schall, making his first start of the season, allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out six. “It was his first outing of the year and he pitched a great game,” Gardner said of Schall. “He definitely gave us the opportunity to win the game. The bats did not come through.”
