Penn State baseball: Lions drop series opener to Gophers

— Penn State dropped an 11-2 game to Minnesota to open up a three-game Big Ten series on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Tom Windle earned his sixth win of the season for the Gophers, moving to a 6-2 record on the season with a 1.82 ERA. Windle, who leads the Big Ten in strikeouts, struck out four while allowing seven hits and just two unearned runs in seven innings of work.

T.J. Jann took the loss for the Nittany Lions, giving up seven runs on three hits.

Minnesota battled from a 2-1 deficit with with a six-run fourth inning, as Kurt Schlangen went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Connor Schaefbauer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to lead the Gophers.
