High school softball: State College piles up hits in win at Altoona

— State College pounded 17 singles as the Lady Little Lions thumped Altoona 11-6 on Friday

Six starters had multiple hits for State College (8-6), which built an 11-3 lead after five innings.

“I really felt good about the kids hitting the ball,” Lady Little Lion coach Rick Hall said. “We hit the ball hard, even on our outs.”

Sharaya Simco (three RBIs), Allison Baney (two runs, two RBIs) and Megan Robert (two RBIs) smacked three hits each. Cory Marfitt (two runs), Lexi Mattivi (three runs, two RBIs) and Hope Guthoff each had two hits.

Karli Nolan (2-2) scattered seven hits, allowed three runs, struck out two and walked none over five innings to earn the victory. Marshe Barnes, Amanda Parrish and Andrea Parrish had two hits each for Altoona.
