High school softball: Bald Eagle Area tops Jersey Shore

From CDT staff reportsMay 5, 2013

— Makennah Dyke tossed a four-hitter as Bald Eagle Area blanked Jersey Shore 2-0 on Friday.

The contest was scoreless until the third. Allie Simpson led off with a single and advanced to second on an error on the play. Simpson advanced to third on a groundout and trotted home on Marissa Tobias’ EBI double to left. Tobias scored on Dyke’s two-out single, narrowly beating a throw to the plate.

Dyke (1-2) made the two runs hold up. She walked three and struck out three, and was backed by errorless defense.

“The defense played outstanding,” BEA coach Kayleen Sidisky said. “Dyke threw a great game and the offense came through with timely hitting.”
