High school softball: Penns Valley topples Tyrone

From CDT staff reportsMay 10, 2013

— Penns Valley used consistent hitting and strong pitching from Maggie Lynch to earn a 6-2 victory over Tyrone on Thursday.

The Rams (9-9) slapped 16 hits and were led by Kylee Wasson and Ashley Struble, each of whom went 3-for-4. Lynch (9-8) pitched all seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits, a walk and two strikeouts.

“I thought Lynch pitched a very strong game,” Lady Rams coach Don Lucas said. “We really got a strong effort from the bottom of our lineup. ... The last three or four games we have been able to do that.”

Madisyn Sharer, Morgan Royer and Mackenzie Ironside each went 2-for-3. The Lady Rams broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning highlighted by a Courtney Ironside double and a two-run single by Royer.
