Penn State baseball: Fighting Illini throttle Nittany Lions

— Penn State’s season of struggles continued on Friday with a 9-0 drubbing at the hands of the Illinois Fighting Illini (29-15, 10-9 Big Ten).

The Nittany Lions (12-32, 3-16 Big Ten) were shutout by Illini pitcher Kevin Duchene (7-1). The crafty lefty fanned nine and allowed just two hits in the complete game win. The Nittany Lions got hits from James Coates and Luis Montesinos.

Ryan Harper (1-3) took the loss for Penn State which has won just one game in its last eight tries.
