Ducklings rescued from sewer grate on Penn State campus

From CDT staff reportsMay 13, 2013

— Penn State police said three people helped rescue several ducklings that had been trapped in a sewer grate Sunday on campus near the Hintz Alumni Center.

Around 5:15 p.m., an officer had come upon the people, who were looking down a sewer grate and saw they had removed the grate to try to get the ducklings, police said.

Police said the ducklings walked out on their own, and the police returned them to the nearby pond.

Police chief Tyrone Parham wasn’t sure how many ducklings had been trapped.
