Centre County Baseball League: Pleasant Gap nips Blanchard

— Pleasant Gap overcame a 12-2 deficit in the third inning to beat Blanchard 13-12 after Wednesday’s game was called in the sixth inning because of darkness.

Pleasant Gap (1-0) scored 10 runs in the fourth frame to tie the game and added the winning run in the fifth. Steven Alterio had a single, double and triple for the winners. Tony Rider and Devin Alterio each had a single and a double.

Blanchard (0-1) jumped out early with four runs in the first and six more in the second. Larry Bechdel went 3-for-5 with three singles for Blanchard and Mike Vonada added a single and double.

Blanchard will host Philipsburg on Sunday at 2 p.m.
